Calabar Marathon & Carnival Race Foundation is a not for profit, non-governmental organization set up with the desire of contributing to the growth and learning processes of young people by using sports education & events to heighten the rate of support for all highly vulnerable young people, educationally less privileged, needy and deprived children and youths with disabilities.

We believe that all children & youths in the world have a right to survive, to grow appropriately, to learn and be educated properly, and to accomplish their life dreams, expectations and opportunities to the gain of our society.

Like George Santayana, we believe that ‘a child educated only at school is an uneducated child’.

Our motive?

The foundation is simply a sport-for-youth-development organization designed to redefine the future of ‘deprived’ children and youths.

As the Youth Development Committee of the Lilly Endowment Foundation Incorporated rightly noted (Pittman, June 1991): “Youth development ought not to be viewed as a happenstance matter. While children & youths can, and often do, make the best of difficult circumstances, they cannot be sustained and helped to grow by chance arrangements or makeshift events.

Something far more intentional is required: a place, a league, a form of association, a gathering of people where value is placed on continuity, predictability, history, tradition, and a chance to test out new behaviors.”

Why join us?

To function successfully in the adult world, youths will benefit from opportunities presented through creative sport projects and programs adopted by the foundation.
We prepare youths for maturity through experiential methods of learning which are often commonly used in our programs in sports settings.

We understand the travails confronting youths in Nigeria and Africa, a horrible state of deprivation where children and youths suffer all manner of neglect, disadvantages, and vulnerability and underprivileged situations.
